Stimulating Adaptive Physical Education for Cerebral Palsy
Content
Introduction
A wide range of morphological and functional disorders in cerebral palsy, required the use of various means of treatment and rehabilitation of patients with this disease. In addition to surgical methods and drug therapy, a beneficial effect on massage was noted. One of the methods of therapeutic effect - Acupressure , a direction of the Eastern school, can be used as a means of manual therapy . The main feature of the above is the stimulation of BAP (Biologically Active Points), hence the concept of “stimulating”.
Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral Palsy ( lat. Paralysis infantilis cerebralis ) is a collective term for a group of diseases that are manifested primarily by impaired movement, balance and body position; cerebral palsy is often accompanied by psycho-speech disorders.
Cerebral Palsy Forms
- Spastic diplegia; - Double hemiplegia; - Hemiparetic form; - Hyperkinetic form; - Atonic-astatic form.
The concept of acupressure
Acupressure is a further development of acupuncture . It uses the points (and meridians) where acupuncture needles are inserted, but acupressure rejects the use of metal in treatment. Instead of needles, the thumb and forefinger are used. The effect is the same.
Conclusion
By analyzing the scientific literature, it is possible to determine the essence of acupressure, the methodology, and also to establish the location of the most effective points. The use of acupressure in combination with exercise therapy, massage will give a positive effect, and will strengthen the effect of rehabilitation measures. Acupressure in the rehabilitation of patients with cerebral palsy has not yet been sufficiently studied, but it can be said with confidence that this method does not contradict the principles of modern medicine and can be widely used by medical practice, as well as by specialists of adaptive physical education.
