Exodus is one of the founders of the computer role-playing game genre, in particular, it had a greater influence on the formation of such famous series as Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy [1] . Readers of Computer Gaming World magazine put the game into the hall of fame with their vote, the total number of sales amounted to 120 thousand copies [2] . In 1985, the same magazine recognized Exodus as “The Best Adventure Game of the Year,” and the editors commented on it as follows: “Despite the fact that from year to year Ultima III is gradually becoming obsolete, its superiority in its genre is still felt” [3 ] .
The demon placed on the cover provoked strong protest from the religious community. Activists accused the game of corrupting the young generation of America, mass propaganda of the image of Satan [4] . Having listened to this opinion, and also taking into account some other factors, Richard Garriott substantially changed the concept of the next part - Ultima IV , building the gameplay on the so-called "virtues", which later became the hallmark of the Ultima series [5] .
