VHSIC ( English Very high speed integrated circuits ) is a US government program in the 1980s aimed at developing ultra- high-speed integrated circuits .
The U.S. Department of Defense launched the project in 1980 . The results of the project were numerous developments in the field of materials, lithography , packaging, testing integrated circuits, algorithms for their development, as well as CAD . A well-known subproject is VHDL , a language for describing high-frequency integrated circuit hardware.
