Nikolai Petrovich Burlyaev (born August 3, 1946 , Moscow ) is a Soviet and Russian film and theater actor, film director . People's Artist of the Russian Federation ( 1996 ) [1] . Member of the Union of Writers of Russia. One of the founders of the “Foundation for Orthodox Culture of the Priest Pavel Florensky”. [2]

Biography
Nikolai Burlyaev was born on August 3, 1946 in Moscow. Nikolai's acting debut took place in the early 1960s, when he starred in the course work of Andrei Konchalovsky " Boy and Dove ." Then Andrei Tarkovsky, on the recommendation of Konchalovsky [3], took the young actor into the painting “ Ivan's childhood ”, where Burlyaev played the role of a teenager whom the war deprived of childhood. Recalling those shootings, the actor said that he played not so much himself as "Tarkovsky himself" - his movements, intonations, facial expressions [4] . At the Venice Film Festival of 1962, both films featuring Burlyaev received prizes - Golden Lion Mark ”and“ Bronze Lion of St. Mark".
Together with Kolya, Vladimir Shurupov, an actor of the Mossovet Theater , starred in the film “The Boy and the Dove”. The main director of the theater, Yuri Zavadsky, took Nikolai Burlyaev in the play "Leningradsky Prospekt" based on the play by I. Shtok. The main role of Zabrodin in the play was played by Nikolai Mordvinov , and Nikolai Burlyaev was his stage grandson, 14-year-old Vasya Zabrodin. So Nikolai Burlyaev became an actor in the theater [5] .
In 1961-1964 he served at the Moscow Academic Theater. Moscow City Council , in 1967-1968 - at the Moscow Theater. Lenin Komsomol . In 1968 he graduated from the acting department of the Theater School. B. Schukin . In 1975 he graduated from the directing department of VGIK (workshop of M. I. Romm , L. A. Kulidzhanov ).
Since 1992 - General Director of the Russian Film Concern. President of the International Film Festival of Slavic and Orthodox Peoples "Golden Knight" .
Since July 26, 2010 - Member of the Patriarchal Council for Culture ( Russian Orthodox Church ) [6] .

Burlyaev emphasizes that he is Orthodox, repeatedly sharply expressed his negative attitude towards people with non-traditional sexual orientation , calls himself a homophobe [10] . Burlyaev considers homosexuality a pathology , calls it " sin ", " fornication " and " vice " [10] [11] , proposes to "limit the infinite rights of homosexuals to demonstrate this pathology on television." “It is convenient to sin - please into the gateway” [12] .
