2015/2016 season situation
On May 28, 2015, the presidential election of the Basketball Federation of Ukraine was held. The current president of the FBU, Alexander Volkov, withdrew, and Mikhail Brodsky was elected the new president. After this, a series of scandals occurred, so the FBU, relying on their data, announced the termination of the existence of two Super League ABKU clubs - Kyiv BC and Ferro-ZNTU BC, as well as the withdrawal of Cherkasy Mavpa BC from Super League ABKU . This led to a conflict between the Super League clubs and the Basketball Federation of Ukraine.
During the conflict, ABKU Super League insisted on signing an agreement with the FBU on the joint holding of the Ukrainian Championship among Super League teams. However, the FBU, ignoring the proposals of ABKU Super League to jointly host the championship, announced its own Super League, adding 5 more teams to the number of participants.
