Orange is a county in Southern California , USA. The administrative center is the city of Santa Ana . As of 2000, the population was 2,846,293 people, while in July 2008 it was 3,010,759 people, making it the third largest county in California after Los Angeles County and San Diego County .

Geography
The area of the district is 2,455.3 km². Of these, 2,044.5 km² (83.27%) are represented by land and 410.7 km² (16.73%) are represented by water [1] . It is the smallest county in Southern California. Borders on the counties of Los Angeles (in the north), San Bernardino (in the northeast), Riverside (in the east) and San Diego (in the southeast); in the west and southwest it is washed by the waters of the Pacific Ocean . The northwestern part of the district is located within the coastal plain, while the southeastern part rises in the form of the foothills of the Santa Ana mountain range, passing along the eastern border of the district. Most of the population lives in two small valleys: Santa Ana and Saddleback. The highest point of Orange County is Mount Santiago, which is 1,734 m above sea level and is located 32 km east of Santa Ana. Santiago, as well as Mount Mojesca (1675 m) located not far from it, are visible from almost the entire territory of the district. The Peralta Hills serve as the western extension of the Santa Ana Range and extend through the northeastern part of the county. Another important element of the relief is the Loma ridge, stretching along the Santa Ana ridge, through the central part of the district, and separated from it by the canyon of Santiago.
The county’s largest river is Santa Ana , which crosses it from the northeast to the southwest. Its most important tributary is the Santiago Creek River. Other waterways include: Eiliso Creek, San Juan Creek and Horset Creek.

According to the 2010 census, the district population is 3,010,232 people. Racial Composition: White (60.8%); African Americans (2.2%); Native Americans (0.6%); Asians (17.9%); Oceanians (0.3%); representatives of other races (14.5%); representatives of two or more races (4.2%). The proportion of Hispanics is 33.7%.
According to the 2000 census, the population was 2,846,289. The population density was 474 people / km². Racial Composition: White (64.8%); African Americans (1.7%); Native Americans (0.7%); Asians (13.3%); Oceanians (0.3%); representatives of other races (14.8%); representatives of two or more races (4.1%). The proportion of Hispanics is 30.8%. 8.9% of the population were of German descent; 6.9% are of British descent and 6.0% are of Irish descent. 58.6% of the population spoke English only at home; 25.3% - in Spanish ; 4.7% - in Vietnamese ; 1.9% in Korean ; 1.5% in Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) and 1.2% in Tagalog .
The proportion of people under the age of 18 is 27.0%; the proportion of people over the age of 65 is 9.9%. The average age of the population is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 99 males; for every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.7 males. About 7% of families and 10.3% of the district's population were below the poverty line.
According to 2007 data, the average household income is $ 71,601, and the average household income is $ 81,260.

The largest county airport is John Wayne Airport . Suburban rail services are operated by Metrolink , and long-distance communications are operated by Amtrak . Bus services within the county are provided by the Orange County Transportation Authority .

Attractions
The area is known for a number of tourist sites, including Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm , 64 km of ocean beaches, places of worship such as Crystal Cathedral , Saddleback Church and Calvary Chapel . Orange County is often portrayed in the media as a prosperous and politically conservative territory.
There is no one distinct center in Orange County; the area is suburban, with the exception of the traditionally business Anaheim , Santa Ana , Orange, Huntington Beach, and Fullerton. There are also several outskirts of the city, such as the South Coast Metro and Newport Center.
