Biography

In 1911 he entered the Jesuit Order . From 1913 to 1914 he studied humanitarian disciplines in El Llano , but because of the anti-clerical policies of the Mexican authorities, he was forced to leave Mexico and move to Spain , where from 1915-1918 continued his studies at the Faculty of Philosophy in Granada .

He was ordained a priest on 08/31/1925, after which he returned to Mexico, where he took up political activity. In 1926, a conflict began in Mexico between the anti-clerical government and the Church, which led to the persecution of Christians. Miguel Augustine at that time of persecution was engaged in active pastoral activity: he secretly performs worship services for believers, helps rebel families who fought for the rights of the Church, and openly opposes the actions of the government.

11/13/1927 The League for the Protection of Religious Freedom attempted to assassinate presidential candidate Alvaro Obregon . Miguel Augustine and his brothers Roberto and Umberto were accused of complicity and arrested. Through the efforts of the diplomatic corps, only Roberto was saved from execution, while Miguel and Umberto were shot on November 23, 1927.
