In the 2012 presidential election, the canton residents cast 28.7% of the votes of Francois Hollande in the 1st round against 26.6% of Marin Le Pen and 22.2% of Nicolas Sarkozy , and Hollande won in the 2nd round of the canton 55.7% (2007 1st round: Sarkozy - 28.0%, Segolen Royal - 24.3%; 2nd round: Sarkozy - 50.9%).
