In the 2012 presidential election, the canton residents voted 29.2% of the votes of Francois Hollande in the 1st round against 24.6% of Marin Le Pen and 21.9% of Nicolas Sarkozy , and Hollande won in the 2nd round of the canton 56.1% (2007 1st round: Sarkozy - 27.9%, Segolen Royal - 25.1%; 2nd round: Sarkozy - 50.6%).
