Fush Yu Mang ( Rus. Fuck you ) is the debut studio album of the American alternative rock band Smash Mouth , released on July 8, 1997 via Interscope Records . The song “ Walkin 'on the Sun ” became the band's biggest hit on the album. The name of the album was taken from the phrase “fuck you, man”, which was slurredly pronounced by the protagonist Tony Montana from the movie Scarface by Al Pacino (the song “Padrino” has a line “I'll take any flick with Al Pacino” which is a reference ) The cover of the album depicts Greg Kamp's '62 Ford Falcon Squire [6] car flying through space, in which members of Smash Mouth sit, one of whose members shows the middle finger from the window. The name of the album is stylized as Chinese characters. Also on the album there is a cover version of the song “ Why Can't We Be Friends? »American funk band War .

The album took 19th place on the American Billboard 200 chart and became double platinum [7] [8] . The single “Walkin 'on the Sun” was placed first on the Adult Top 40 and Alternative Songs charts in the USA [9] [10] , as well as on the third position on the Canada Top Singles charts in Canada [11] .
On June 29, 2018, in honor of the 20th anniversary of the album, Fush Yu Mang was reissued, and an acoustic version of the album was released on PledgeMusic , whose release the band had planned since 2017 [12] .
About the album
The ironic lyrics in Walkin 'on the Sun represent Generation X , which is heavily influenced by hippies who praise the ideals of peace and love [13] . The album brought together funny songs and songs that expose the dark side, such as “Disconnect the Dots” and “Nervous in the Alley”.
Music Style
“ Walkin 'on the Sun ” is a 1960s-style psychedelic soul and soul-funk song in the style of bands such as The Zombies and The Yardbirds [14] [15] [1] . Fush Yu Mang is described as punk rock [2] , ska punk [1] and pop punk [3] album. The following music styles influenced the music of the album: punk rock, ska , reggae and speed metal [15] . Also noticeable influence on the music of the album had such groups as NOFX , No Doubt and Goldfinger [3] [2] .
