Mineral ( eng. Mineral County ) is a district located in the state of Nevada ( Eng. Nevada ), formed in 1911 by separation from the territory of Esmeralda County after the transfer of the capital of the latter to the city of Goldfield . The name of the district was due to the abundant presence of various minerals on its territory. The administrative center of the county is the city of Hawthorne ( English Hawthorne ).

According to the United States Census Bureau, Mineral County has a total area of 3,813 square miles (9,876 square kilometers), of which 9,729 km² is land and 146 km² is water (1.48% of the total area).

Demographics
According to the 2000 census, 5,071 people lived in Mineral District , 1,379 families, 2,197 households and 2,866 units of rented housing. The average population density was about 0.48 people per square kilometer. The racial composition of the district according to the census was as follows: 73.89% of whites, 4.77% of African Americans, 15.36% of Native Americans, 0.81% of Asians, 0.10% of people from Pacific Islands, 2.39% of mixed races and 2.68% other ethnic groups. 8.44% of the population were Hispanic or Latin American . 25.40% of the total number of registered families had children under the age of 18 living with their parents, 45.20% were married couples living together, 11.50% of families had women without husbands, and 37.20% families were not families as such. 31.60% of all registered households were singles, while 15.10% were singles over 65 years of age.
