Acrivia

Acrivia ( Greek ἀκρίβεια - “exact meaning, strict accuracy, thoroughness”) - in Christianity the exact meaning, accuracy, rigor, correspondence to the letter of the law; the principle of resolving church issues from a position of strict certainty. Acrivia means the immutability of dogma, the internal rule of faith ^[1] .

Based on the principle of acrivia, dogmatic problems should be resolved. That is, in matters of dogma must be guided by absolute rigor. The issues of canonics and church practice can be resolved both from the standpoint of acrivia and from the standpoint of economy , that is, taking into account external circumstances.

If oikonomia is a principle of practical benefit, then acrivia is a principle of absoluteness, strict definiteness, eliminating any ambiguity and uncertainty that are permissible in the field of practical church life and pastoral activity, which are solved according to church economy.

From this it cannot be concluded that acrivia is an approach to resolving issues from principled positions, and economy is an “unprincipled”, narrowly utilitarian approach, because the highest church principles are at the heart of both.

In Scripture itself it is necessary to distinguish: where is the norm, and where is the private council. Where is acrivia and where is economy. Where is the necessary and clear norm and its application, and where is the pastorally substantiated deviation from the norm - whether in the direction of its softening or tightening [2] .
