Foundation
Goliath-Werke Borgward & Co. established by Karl Borgward and Wilhelm Tecklenburg in 1928 . The first products were three-wheeled trucks, previously produced by Borgward. The first car of the brand in 1931 was the Goliath Pionier . He also had three wheels and a single-cylinder engine .
Post-war period
After the war, Goliath decided to release a full-fledged passenger car. They became the model GP700 . The car had two doors, front-wheel drive and two-stroke two-cylinder engine with a volume of only 700 cm ³. In April 1951, the GP700 Sport coupe with a duralumin body and a Bosch petrol injection engine was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show . It was the first production car in the world to use fuel injection technology. Engine power increased from 25 hp up to 29 hp. In July 1952, the GP700 E sedans with an injection engine began to be sold. In the fall of 1955, the GP900 E model appeared . It was installed on an engine of 886 cm ³, with an output of 40 hp. This allowed the car to accelerate to 100 km / h in just 29 seconds. In addition to the GP900 E injector, a version with the GP900 V carburetor engine was produced. In 1957, the Goliath 1100 began production with a four-stroke carburetor four-cylinder boxer engine of 1100 cm³.
