Craig Ashley David ( born Craig Ashley David ; born May 5, 1981 , Southampton , Hampshire , England , UK ) is a British singer and songwriter. His father is a Grenadian , and his mother is Jewish . David started making music from an early age. The first lessons in playing the guitar were given to him by his father, who himself studied music and played in a musical group called Eboney Rockers. As a teenager, Craig began to compose his own songs, and at the age of 14 he became a DJ at a pirate radio station. At the same time he played in a local club. The first notable success for Craig was the victory in the national competition with the song “I'm Ready”.

After that, Craig began working with Mark Hill from the duet Artful Dodger . Craig participated in the recording of the duo's album, including the successful single “Rewind”. Subsequently, Mark Hill helped him record a solo album, “Born To Do It,” released in 2000. The very first single from this album, “Fill Me In”, made Craig David the youngest British musician on the first line of the national hit parade . Other famous singles by Craig David from the album “Born To Do It” are “7 Days” and “Walking Away”. These compositions made him popular all over the world.

Subsequently, Craig David recorded the albums “Slicker Than Your Average” (2002), “The Story Goes ...” (2005), “Trust Me” (2007), but they were not as successful as the first. One of his last major hits was a duet with Sting , “ Rise & Fall ” (2003, 2nd place in the UK).

In 2010, the album Signed Sealed Delivered was released.

In 2016, the album Following My Intuition was released.
