It is the administrative center of the village council of Yakovenkovsky, which also includes the villages of Volkiy Yar , Kalinovka , Stepok and Taranushino .
Geographical position
The village of Yakovenkovo is located 6 km from the town of Balakley , on the bank of the river Srednyaya Balakleyka . Nearby is the road T-2110 .
History
In 1918, district artillery depots were deployed [1] . After the independence of Ukraine, the 65th arsenal was transferred to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and, as of 2009, was one of the largest ammunition depots in Ukraine [2] [3] [4] .
As of the beginning of 1966, the population was 1,454 people, here was the central estate of the kolkhoz im. Vatutina, there was an eight-year school, a club, a library and an automatic telephone station [5] .
The population at the 2001 census was1126 people .
Near the arsenal are the densely populated villages of Verbovka and Yakovenkovo , as well as the railway station, tank farm, school and a number of enterprises.
Attractions
- Several mass graves and a memorial sign to fellow soldiers who died on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War.
