Geographical position

The village of Shebelinka is located in a strongly ragged area with ravines, some of them are blocked by dams and turned into ponds. The river Shebelinka originates in them. Near the oak forest Flat. 3 km away is the village of Dalnaya Shebelinka . The village is crossed by the T-2110 highway. There are many gas wells and gas pipelines around.

History

  • The first mention of Shebelinka dates back to 1681 .
  • In 1817, the village was transferred to the category of military settlements.
  • In 1829, an uprising of peasants unfolded in the Sloboda-Ukrainian province, whose ancestors had already been resettled from Central Russia in the 18th century . It covered several villages and settlements centered in the settlement of Shebelinka. The peasants opposed their transfer to military settlers. They ceased to obey the settlement authorities, smashed the premises of squadron committees, and elected their chieftains. For several days, about 3 thousand people gathered in Shebelinka. Under the leadership of the peasants S. Demin and K. Vedernikov, the offensive of the Lancers was repelled. Then the authorities threw a whole division of lancers at the rebels and used cannon fire at Shebelinka. The uprising was crushed. Killed 109 rebels, 143 people were arrested and put on trial. S. Demin and K. Vedernikov sent to eternal hard labor.
  • 1910-1914 - the construction of the railway and railway stations Shebelinka, Balakliya, Savintsy.
  • During World War II , 391 Soviet soldiers of the 228th Infantry Division died in the battle for the liberation of the village from the Nazis.
  • In 1950, the powerful Shebelinsky gas field was discovered .
