Biography

Pupil of Chernihiv football. The first trainers are Eugene Petrenko, Eugene Dobranitsky [2] . Then he continued his studies at the Moscow Sports Academy , from where in 2001, together with Ilyas Zeytullaev and Viktor Budyansky, he joined the youth team of the Italian Juventus . He played in Juventus since the 2001/02 season, but he still could not find a place in the team, and after two years in a double was leased to the Roman club Lodigani .

From Italy he moved to Belgium, where he played for the Liege Standard . As part of the Standard, Kovalenko became the silver medalist of the Belgian Championship 2004/05 and reached the semifinals of the Belgian Cup . However, the next season, the striker’s performance decreased, and he was leased to Lokeren , where he only replaced once, due to a conflict with coach Slavolyub Muslin . In the 2007/08 season, he played for Ruselare .

On August 11, 2008 Sergey Kovalenko signed a contract with Lutsk Volyn [3] . Then he played for the Belarusian FC Torpedo, FC Belshina, then returned to Ukraine and moved to FC Polesie but never played for the club. In 2012 he returned to Belarus where he played for FC Naftan. From March 2013 until the end of the season he will play for PFC Sumy [4] .
