History
The stadium was built in 1929 in the city center, in the historic district of Nizhny Yelan, next to the City Garden park.
Initially it was called the stadium of the OPB (district trade union bureau) or the "Stadium of trade unions", in the 1930s and 1950s it was called "Medic", then for three years it was called "Petrel", and since 1958 it was called "Labor". In the 1990-2000s, the stadium was reconstructed, the capital building of the western rostrum was built.
Before the start of the 2005 season, in which the stadium was to host the Premier League matches for the first time in history, the stadium was reconstructed. In particular, a northern stand was built. Thus, in the 2005–2010 seasons, Trud accommodated 15,000 spectators. In 2011, the eastern stand of the stadium was demolished: in its place it was planned to build a shopping and sports entertainment complex, which from the side of the football field would become a comfortable stand with a new VIP box [1] . During the reconstruction, the capacity of the stadium decreased by 5,000 spectators. It was planned that after the completion of the construction the capacity of the stadium will be 16,000 spectators [2] , however, the reconstruction was soon suspended.
In February 2015, the Tomsk Region Arbitration Court granted the claim of the Tomsk administration to terminate the investment agreement with Rylond LLC for the reconstruction of the stadium's eastern stand. As of 2016, litigation continues around the eastern rostrum: the stadium's rostrum is not functioning and is pulled by a huge banner.
In 2016, the stadium became exclusively football: the north and south stands were moved closer to the field, and thus the arena lost racetracks. In the summer of 2016, the stadium was repaired: the stadium illumination was increased, a new coating was laid around the field, and a new video panel was installed.
The field measures 105 x 68 meters, seeded with grass, heated. The lighting system provides illumination of 1,400 lux [3] .
Monuments
Premier League Season One Monument
In 2006, in honor of the success of Tomi in the first season of the club in the Premier League, a stela was installed at the stadium, made by sculptors father and son Gnedykh. The monument is a composition of the figures of a football player and a stele with the names of players, coaches, regional leaders, sponsors who have made the most significant contribution to the team’s success in their debut in the elite division of Russian football.
Fan Monument
In 2006, the Monument to the Fan was erected on the eastern platform by the sculptor L. A. Usov . The installation of a bronze sculpture at the stadium was dedicated to the fiftieth anniversary of Tomsk professional football, the prototype was a photograph of an unknown fan of the 1950s from the archive of the Tom football club. Later, in connection with the reconstruction of the stadium, the bronze fan “moved” to the southern rostrum [1] .
