Tuscan Archipelago National Park ( Italian: Parco nazionale Arcipelago Toscano ) - Italy's national park , the largest marine national park in the Mediterranean, covering the territory of the Tuscan archipelago . The park area is more than 567 square meters. km of protected sea surface and 178 square meters. km of coast. It includes 7 main islands of the archipelago ( Elba , Gorgon , Caprai , Pianos , Montecristo , Palmyola , Giglio and Giannutri ), as well as many small islands and rocks. Montecristo Island has been a State Nature Reserve since 1971 . Geologically, the islands are very different from each other.
