Biography
Born in a working class family. Jew . Member of the CPSU (b) since 1943. He graduated from 10 classes. In the Red Army - since June 1941. He graduated from the Kiev Artillery School in 1941.
In the army - from November 1942. When repelling an enemy counterattack in the area of the city of Poznan (Poland) on February 15, 1945, it knocked out 3 enemy tanks and 4 armored personnel carriers. He died in this battle. The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded posthumously on May 31, 1945. The brave artillery officer is buried in the Polish city of Walbrzych .
Rewards
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 31, 1945, for the courage and heroism shown in battles with the Nazi invaders and the guard, Captain Tchaikovsky Iosif Yefimovich was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
He was awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner, two orders of the Red Star, and medals.
Memory
The name of the Hero was carried by the pioneer detachment of the Bereznyansky secondary school of the Mensky district of the Chernihiv region. At the school number 19 in Kiev, where he studied, a memorial plaque was installed.
