White company (squad)

The White Company ( Italian: Compagnia Bianca del Falco ) - a detachment of Italian mercenaries , operating in medieval Europe in the XIV century . At first, the commander of the detachment was the German Albert Shtertz, then he was replaced by the Englishman John Hawkwood . His activity was fictionalized in 1891 in Conan Doyle 's novel The White Squad .
