Ether ( ancient Greek. Αἰθήρ - mountain air) in ancient Greek mythology [1] - the upper layer of air ( sky ), the abode of the gods , as well as its personification ( personification ) - the deity of Ether .

Ether as part of the world is the upper (mountain), the lightest (thin, rarefied), transparent and radiant layer of air, the upper layer of the sky that the gods breathe and live in. The ether reaches the top of Olympus , where the Olympic gods are located.
According to the most popular version, the god Ether was the son of Erebus (underground Darkness) and Nikty-Nights , the brother of Hemera (Day) [2] .
According to the version of the poem “Titanomachia” , Hesiod “Theogony” VII century BC e. Ether and Hemera were the parents of Gaia-Earth , Uranus-Heaven [3] , Pontus (Sea), Ocean , Tartarus . In the presentation of Gigin, Ether was born of Chaos and Mgla [4] . According to another version, Ether is the father of Zeus [5] . It is called the father of the winds [6] .
