Biography
Born in 1794. A graduate of the institute of the Corps of Railway Engineers , where he entered on November 13, 1811 and was released on production on assignments on June 11, 1812 .
In 1820 he was promoted to majors and was appointed April 17, 1822 as the managing director of roads in Tsarskoye Selo district. Since that time, bringing the roads near the suburban Imperial residences in excellent condition, Adam became known to Emperor Nicholas I and on June 27, 1828 he was appointed a teacher at the Institute of the Corps of Railways.
At the beginning of the Russian-Turkish war, Emperor Nicholas I demanded him in the army, in the main apartment near Iasi . From here he went to the Danube and, after inspecting and surveying the banks and islands of this river, built a ram-bridge near Girsov , on which troops were transported across the Danube. Adam arranged the second crossing at Silistra , and built a hospital between Varna and Balchik .
Defined on April 22, 1829 by the director of military communications of the Second Army and on December 31, 1829, promoted to colonel βfor distinction,β Adam has been on the commission for the construction of the Neva Embankment in St. Petersburg since 1831.
On January 17, 1834, Adam was appointed to build the Banking Bridge on the Catherineβs Canal . In the same year, having graduated from the granite embankment from St. Isaac's Bridge to the Academy of Arts , with the pier of the Sphinxes , Adam received the highest thanks on May 22, and on June 15 the Order of St. Vladimir 3rd degree.
Having been in charge of building bridges in St. Petersburg, Adam was appointed on October 3, 1834 to work on deepening the fairway of the Neva River. In managing the bridges in St. Petersburg, Adam entered into close relations with the Minister of Finance Kankrin , who also considered himself a specialist in building bridges and, appreciating the merits of Adam, transferred him to the ministry of finance subordinate to the Minister of Finance, in which Adam received the rank of major general .
December 12, 1840 for the immaculate length of service for 25 years in officer ranks he was awarded the Order of St. George 4th degree (No. 6386 according to the cavalier list of Grigorovich - Stepanov).
He died after 1860.
