Like Miss Lemon and Arthur Hastings , the role of Inspector Jepp in the stories of Poirot was exaggerated in the film adaptation of books; in the series Poirot Agatha Christie, they often appear where they were not originally. Jepp is found mainly in the works of the 1930s, and, like Hastings, then disappears [2] . In late novels, Superintendent Spence is found, reminiscent of him in character [3] .
James Japp, being a good detective, does not have Poirot's talents. Over the years, he has gained respect for the great detective. Jepp's wife, often mentioned by himself in conversations, is called Emily.
In the series Poirot Agatha Christie , the role of Jepp is played by Philip Jackson [4] , and David Suchet , who plays the main role in it, was Jepp in the film “Thirteen at Dinner” with starring Peter Ustinov [5] .
Philip Jackson also played Jepp on the BBC radio show , released simultaneously with the series. A feature of the image created by Jackson is the rather distinctive character of the average Englishman-policeman, a professional in his field, not without human warmth, somewhat rude due to the specifics of the work and at first a little frivolous towards Poirot, but subsequently very dear to his friendship with him.
