Gibson announced this book on October 6, 2006 on his blog, where he posted several inconsistently going fragments of a future book.
This led readers to debate and speculation about the plot and content of the work before its release. The book was launched in February 2006, and is part of a series with the previous book, Pattern Recognition . In an interview with PC Magazine [1], Gibson stated that the plot of “The Land of Ghosts” unfolds “in the same world, which is more or less the world we live in now.” (In the book, the action takes place in 2006).

Characters
Hollis Henry is a former member of the disintegrated Kofyu group, known in the early 1990s. Now she’s a freelance journalist who has received an offer to write an article about “locative art” for the upcoming European journal Nod.
Tito is a member of a family who has moved from Cuba to the United States and is engaged in espionage.
Milgrim is a drug-dependent translator from Russian who has been held hostage by a certain mysterious personality of Brown , who is either an employee of the ABN, or some other state security agency, and who carries out SMS translations of family members of Cuban emigrants (one of which is Tito) going on a volapyuk. The dependence on tranquilizers that Brown provides him no less prevents Milgrim from escaping than the threat of physical violence in the event of an attempt to implement this plan. Milgrim is a complex, multifaceted personality, sensitively capturing the most subtle nuances of the events happening around him.
Brown is a dark person related to some of the state power structures.

The first edition of the novel in Russian was released by the publishing house AST ( ISBN 978-5-17-046092-2 , 978-5-17-060759-4), the translator Yulia Moiseenko was awarded the Antipreview "Passage" of 2008 for this translation. In 2016, the novel was reprinted "The Alphabet " ( ISBN 978-5-389-08792-7 ).
