Biography
Bae was born in Seoul . He graduated from Il-mun Preschool and Myung-il Elementary School, after which he studied at PaiChai Middle School and Hanyoung High School.
The debut for Pe was the film PpilKu in 1994. And later, he took part in television series such as Salut D'Amour and Six Steps to Separation .
Pe was recognized for the first time after appearing in a minor role in the series "Sunny Place of the Young" , where he played the role of the heir to the cosmetics company and the protagonist's best friend, played by Lee John Won. His next notable work was the series “First Love” , where he played the role of Chan Wu, a smart young man with a mysterious past who dropped out of law school to join a gang of criminals and avenge his family.
After 1999, Bae decided to move away from acting for a while to focus on his education at Sung Kyun Kwan University, where his specialty was film studies.
In 2001, he returned to the "small screen" with the series "Hotelier" . And the next year he starred in the series " Winter Sonata " , which brought him popularity throughout Asia . Despite the fact that it was a television drama, not a movie, in Japan it was watched by about 20% of the population. Such popularity allowed Pe and his partner in the series Choi Ji Woo to change the place of his main acting activity from Korea to Japan. Other Korean films and series have also enjoyed considerable popularity in the wake of the success of Winter Sonata . The role of Kang Joon Sana from Winter Sonata made Pae the main figure in the so-called Korean Wave.
Significantly added to his popularity in Japan and Southeast Asia, the role of Cho Won in the film The Hidden Scandal .
