Rosbank is part of the international financial group Société Générale . On July 1, 2011, the consolidation of Russian assets of Société Générale Group was completed, another Russian bank of this group, Bank Societe Generale Vostok , was merged with Rosbank. The Group’s strategy is aimed at improving the quality of customer service and gaining leadership positions in the field of innovation, ensuring growth through business development, strengthening interaction between divisions and achieving sustainable profitability.
History
It was founded in 1993 as the Independence Bank (CJSC), and subsequently changed the legal form several times ( 1994 - LLP , 1996 - ZAO ). In September 1998, Interros Holding Company acquired a bank and renamed it AKB Rosbank (CJSC). In 1999, Rosbank received the legal form of an open joint stock company [3] .
In 2003, Rosbank acquired OVK banking group for $ 200 million, thereby significantly expanding its branch network.
December 1, 2005 became the winner of the Golden Bank Lion Award in the nomination “Leader in the field of consumer lending” [4] .
In June and September 2006, packages of 10% of the bank's shares for $ 317 million each were sold to the French banking group Société Générale . Also, the French bank received an option to acquire by the end of 2008 another 30% plus two shares of Rosbank for $ 1.7 billion, which was sold in February 2008 .
On May 2, 2012, a cooperation agreement was signed between Rosbank and Alfa Bank . The parties agreed on cooperation, as well as united a network of ATMs.
On November 23, 2012, Rosbank signed an agreement on the sale of Belrosbank to Alfa-Bank, which plans to expand its positions in the Republic of Belarus [5] .
Since 2010, Rosbank has been a partner in the Russian Sustainable Energy Financing Program [6] .
In 2016, Rosbank was included in the list of systemically important credit organizations out of 10 banks, which account for more than 60% of the total assets of the Russian banking sector [7] .
Integration with BSWG and rebranding
In February 2010, the joint plans of the bank’s shareholders (Societe Generale and Interros) to consolidate the Group’s Russian assets: Rosbank, Bank Societe Generale Vostok, Deltacredit Bank and Rusfinance Bank were announced. The total assets were estimated at January 1, 2010 at 656 billion rubles [8] . Upon completion of the merger, Rosbank became the third largest private bank in Russia by assets, letting Alfa-Bank forward and its principal competitor, Unicredit Bank [9] .
In February 2010, BSGV and Rosbank joined an ATM network. At all Rosbank ATMs, BSGV cardholders were able to make transactions without additional fees, and vice versa. [ten]
In January 2011, Rosbank became the owner of a 100% stake in Rusfinance Bank and Deltacredit Bank [11] .
On April 15, 2011, the shareholders of Rosbank decided to reorganize the bank in the form of a merger of BSGV CJSC, which took place on July 1, 2011 [12] . In 2014, Rosbank developed a new business development strategy for 2014-2017.
