Biography

Eduard Izotov was born on November 11, 1936 in the Surazh district of the Vitebsk region of the Belorussian SSR in the family of a military man. Father - Konstantin Iosifovich Izotov (1905-1968), mother - Anna Iosifovna Izotova [2] [3] .

In 1954, Eduard Izotov entered the acting faculty of VGIK , which he graduated in 1959 (workshop of V. V. Belokurov ) [4] .

The debut of Eduard Izotov in the movie was the main role played by him by Chalikov in the film “ In the Steppe Silence ” ( 1959 ) directed by S. A. Kazakov [3] .

The most striking work of the actor, which brought him popular fame and love of the audience, was the role of Ivan in the film " Frost " ( 1964 ) directed by A. A. Rowe [3] [5] .

About twenty years after this role, Eduard Izotov actively acted in films, but in 1983 there was a disaster: together with his wife, Irina Ladyzhenskaya, he was detained at the Lira cafe on Pushkinskaya Square in the center of Moscow during a currency transaction - exchanging a small amount dollars for rubles (there was not enough money to complete the cottage). In those days, under the Criminal Code, the minimum term for “currency fraud” was three years. Despite the petitions of famous actors - Marina Ladynina , Oleg Strizhenov , Lyudmila Khityaeva , Nikolai Rybnikov , Alla Larionova , Tatyana Konyukhova , Inga Budkevich , Larisa Luzhina - Izotov and Ladyzhenskaya received a prison term [5] [6] .

Three years in prison had a destructive effect on the psyche and health of the actor. Already in 1988, the first stroke occurred, and then they went one after another (there were five in total) [3] [5] . Izotov continued to work at the Theater of the Film Actor , but in 1997, after the fourth stroke, he began to lose his memory and forget the text, so he had to say goodbye to the work. After this a series of operations followed (friends gave money for them - Boris Khmelnitsky , Sergey Nikonenko , Alexander Pankratov-Cherny , Alexander Abdulov ). The disease progressed; Izotov could no longer move independently, spoke with difficulty, periodically did not recognize loved ones. He spent the last six months of his life in a closed psycho-neurological boarding house [5] [6] .

March 8, 2003, the actor died in a Moscow hospital. He was buried at the Khimki cemetery in the suburbs [6] .

The first wife of Eduard Izotov from 1956 to 1980 was his classmate - the famous Soviet and Russian theater and cinema actress Inga Budkevich , who became famous for her roles in A. A. Rowe 's fairy-tale films “ Fire, Water and ... Copper Pipes ” and “ Barbara- beauty, a long braid ", as well as the comedy by M. A. Ruf " Quarrel in Lukashi " [7] .

The daughter from marriage with Inga Budkevich is the famous Soviet and Russian film actress Veronika Izotova (born in 1960 ) [2] .
