Andrei Alexandrovich Smorodsky (1888-1954, Tbilisi ) - Soviet , formerly Russian chess player , master ( 1913 - 1935 ). He achieved his first chess success in the tournaments of the St. Petersburg Chess Meeting. In the All-Russian tournament of amateurs ( 1913 ) - 2nd place; in the All-Russian tournament of masters (1913/1914) - 6-7th places. Since 1920 he lived in Tbilisi. He actively participated in the creation of the Georgian chess organization. Member of the championships of the USSR ( 1924 and 1927 ). Champion of Tbilisi ( 1926 and 1927 ), Red Army ( 1933 ). He played in the Transcaucasian tournaments: 1928 - 6th and 1933 - 4th places.

After the October Revolution, he joined the ranks of the Soviet Army, in which he served until the end of his life. In the last years of his life, he did not compete in competitions due to poor health.
