Armament: 155 mm howitzer (barrel length 39 calibers). The gun is equipped with a two-chamber muzzle brake. The unit is equipped with a semi-automatic loading system, providing a maximum rate of 8 rds / min. The initial velocity of the projectile is 810 m / s. Auxiliary weapons - 12.7 mm machine gun.

Used high-explosive, active-reactive, smoke and lighting shells, as well as shells with an adjustable trajectory "Bonus".

Additional equipment: system of protection against weapons of mass destruction, auxiliary gasoline engine with a power of 6.5 kW.

The calculation consists of four people: the gun commander, gunner, loader and driver.

Modifications

AUF1T

1988 modernization. Instead of an auxiliary gas engine, a gas turbine power of 10.5 kW was installed . Improved charging system. Released 97 units.

AUF1TA, AUF2

Experienced options designed to replace AuF1. Made on the basis of the tank AMX-30B2 . Equipped with a modernized automatic fire control system and automatic guidance system. An AUF2 installation was equipped with a 52-gauge gun, providing a range of up to 42 km with an active-rocket projectile. The maximum rate of fire is brought up to 10 rds / min.

In 2003, in connection with the adoption of the 155-mm CAESAR self-propelled howitzer, it was decided not to upgrade the AUF1 self-propelled howitzer to AUF2 level.
