Description of the Order of Felix Dzerzhinsky
The Order of Felix Dzerzhinsky is a sign depicting a bas-relief of Felix Dzerzhinsky, placed on the Red Star, framed by a wreath of laurel leaves of steel color. Above is the sword and the Red Banner with the slogan “Workers of all countries, unite,” at the bottom of the order on the red ribbon there is an inscription: “FOR THE MERCYLESS FIGHT AGAINST CONTROVOLUTION” - a symbol of readiness for a merciless fight against the enemies of the proletarian revolution.
Draft Order of Felix Dzerzhinsky
With a request to establish such a sign in November 1932, the Chairman of the OGPU V. R. Menzhinsky turned to Stalin :
In the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) Comrade STALIN
By a decree of the Central Executive Committee of the USSR, orders were issued that were issued to military units, collectives, institutions, and individuals for performing combat feats or for special services to the revolution.
The specific working conditions of the organs of the OGPU require the operational composition of personal endurance, initiative, selfless devotion to the party and revolution, personal courage, often associated with a risk to life.
In most cases, these exceptional merits to the revolution are made by individual workers in an environment that cannot be attributed to combat in the generally accepted sense, as a result of which a number of OGPU employees, despite their merits, remain unmarked with the highest award - the RED Banner Order.
Proceeding from this, the OGPU Board asks to establish the Order of “FELIX OF DZERZHINSKY”, timed to coincide with its establishment on the 15th anniversary of the organs of the Cheka-OGPU. The Order of "Felix of Dzerzhinsky" may be awarded to employees and military personnel of the OGPU, individual military units of the OGPU and the Red Army, as well as Soviet citizens who have rendered outstanding services in the fight against counter-revolution.
Awarding the Order of "FELIX OF DZERZHINSKY" is made by the CEC of the USSR on the proposal of the OGPU Board. At the same time, presenting the draft Resolution, a sample and a description of the order, we ask for your approval.
