Frorip August background

The son and grandson of the famous German anatomist Robert Friedrich Frörip ( 1804 - 1861 ) and the doctor and natural scientist Ludwig Friedrich von Frörip ( 1777 - 1847 ). Brother of the artist Berta Frorip ( 1833 - 1920 ).

He studied medicine in 1868 - 1874 in Göttingen , Tübingen and Leipzig ; From 1874 he was a doctor of medicine, in 1875 - 1878 he was an assistant at the Anatomical Institute in Leipzig, in 1884 he was appointed professor in Tübingen, in 1895 he was elected to replace Genke, an ordinary professor of anatomy and director of the anatomical institute in Tübingen. In 1879, he worked in Paris at the Ranvier histological laboratory and in 1893 at the Neapolitan station, and carried out research on embryology of transverse fish.

Frorip published the following works: Sarcolemm und Muskelkern (1879); Zur Entwicklungsgeschichte der Wirbels ä ule, insbesondere d. Atlas und Epistropheus und d. Occipitalregion "(" Arch. Anat. U. Physiol. ", 1883 and 1886); "Zur Entwicklungsgeschichte der Kopfnerven" ("Verh. Anat. Ges.", 1891); Entwicklungsgeschichte des Kopfes (Ergebn. D. Anat. U. Entw.-gesch., 1894); "Ueber ein für die Lagebestimung des Hirnstammes im Schädel verhängnisvolles Artefact beim Gefrieren des menschlichen Cadavers" (Anat. Anz., 1901).

In 1911, Frorip announced that he had identified the skull of Friedrich Schiller , but not all scientists agreed with his arguments and still this question has not been unequivocally resolved. ^[one]
