Career
Amedeo Biavati began his career at the Bologna club, making his debut in big football on May 21, 1933 in a match against the Casale club, in which he scored 2 goals, and his club won 7-0, and two weeks later, in his the second match, scored 2 goals against Milan , however, despite the successful debut, Biavati in the first two seasons at the club was only an understudy, replacing the players of the “foundation” Raffaele Sansone and Bruno Maini . After two seasons at Bologna, Biavati joined the Catania Serie B club, where he spent 1 year. In 1935, Biavati returned to Bologna, but the whole season, upon his return, did not enter the field at all, and the club without him became the champion of Italy, interrupting the 5-year hegemony of Juventus . However, starting from the season 1936-1937, in which Biavati won his first scudetto as part of the club, he slowly approached to gain a firm place at the heart of the Bologna team.
In 1938, Italy's head coach Vittorio Pozzo took Biavati to the World Cup , where in the second round of the championship he made his debut in the Squadra Azzurra T-shirt in a match with France , replacing Pietro Pazinati in the squad, and then spent all the remaining games and became the world champion. In the season that followed the mundial, Biavati won his second scudetto. In the same year, he scored his most beautiful goal in his career in Milan on June 4, 1939 in the game of the national teams of Italy and England , circling, first, British defender and captain Eddie Hapgood , and then the English goalkeeper Vick Woodley , after which he quietly rolled the ball into the empty net receiving congratulations not only from teammates, but also from rivals.
In 1941, Biavati won his 3rd Italian title, but then his career was interrupted by World War II , after it ended, Biavati resumed his career, but did not play long and in 1947 decided to “tie up” with football, then he spent his last match for the Italian team, on November 9, 1947, having entered the field with the Austrian team that defeated the Italians 5: 1, this defeat was the first and last for Biavati in the national team, and Biavati scored his last goal 2 years earlier, hitting the gates of Switzerland in the match, completing Msya with a score of 4: 4 (Biavati scored a goal, equalizing 2: 2). And the last match for the Biavati club played on July 4 , where Bologna was defeated by the Genoa club 2: 7, and Biavati himself scored one of the two “goals of prestige”.
After the player’s career ended, Biavati worked as a coach in the “small” clubs from the towns of Reggio Calabria , Imola , Sitta di Castello , Rovereto and the club “ Libia ”, was a journalist , and then returned to Bologna, but the former player was not needed by the club , who had given the team many years, but the Biavati city municipality found a quiet job as an employee in the sports equipment department.
