Hendrik (Hein) Delsen ( Dutch. Hendrik "Hein" Delsen ; January 13, 1895 , Newver-Amstel - November 13, 1954 , Amsterdam ) - Dutch soccer player , played for Ajax in Amsterdam at the beginning of the 20th century , playing as a striker . In the period from 1918 to 1924 he spent 84 matches for the club, in which he scored 25 goals. Champion of the Netherlands season 1918/1919. He played three matches with the Netherlands national team . From 1944 to 1949 he was the treasurer of the Netherlands Billiards Federation [2] .

Biography

Hendrick Delsen was born on January 13, 1895 in the Nyuver-Amstel district, near Amsterdam [3] . He got his name from his father, Hendrick Delsen, he worked as a bricklayer , and his mother's name was Johann Maria Kok. The Delsen family had eight sons, Hendrick was the third oldest. [4]

At the end of the 19th century, the entire Delsen family moved to Amsterdam, where Hein began to work as a simple worker. On May 10, 1917, he had a wedding, 22-year-old Lena Elizabeth van de Linde, a native of Amsterdam, became his wife [3] . In the same year, Delsen began to play football for the second team of the Ajax Amsterdam, and a year later, he was taken to the first team. His debut took place on September 22, 1918 in a match against the Blau Wit club, which ended with the Ajax victory 3-0. In his debut season, Hein won the Netherlands Championship with the club. In 1919, Hein’s younger brother, Kunrad , appeared on the team, he began to act as a defender .

On January 17, 1919, a girl was born in the Delsen family, the daughter was named after the mother of Lena Elizabeth.

In the Dutch national team, Delsen made his debut on March 26, 1921 in a match against Switzerland . That match also became a debut for another Ajax player midfielder Andre de Kreiff , in addition to him, other Ajax players who attacked Jan de Natris and Wim Guffert also participated in the match. The match ended with the home victory of the Dutch with a score of 2: 0, Buli Kesler and Wim Gupfert distinguished among the winners [5] .

At the end of October 1921, Hein was again called up to the national team, which was to play a friendly game against France on November 13 in Paris [6] . The match, which took place at the Pershin stadium, was attended by over 25 thousand spectators. However, the French fans witnessed a major defeat of their national team, the Dutch defeated opponents with a score of 0: 5. Jan van Gendt , the De Spartan club player, scored a hat-trick , and the team captain and Bee Quick club player Harry Rodermond , who, like Delsen, played his only second match with the national team, scored a double at his own expense [7] .

The last match for the national team Delsen played March 26, 1922 in Antwerp against the national team of Belgium . The Belgians scored two goals in both halves, while the Netherlands team was not able to once hit the opponents ’goal [8] .

Over six seasons with Ajax, Delsen scored 25 goals in 84 matches. In addition to football, Delsen was involved in athletics , running [9] . He was part of the relay four, consisting of Ajax players: Frans Cauton , Jan van Dort and Jan de Natris [9] . The latter, De Natris, ran 100 meters in 11.1 seconds [9] .

In 1944, Hein got a job as treasurer in the Netherlands Billiards Federation [10] , he held this position until 1949 [10] . In addition, Delsen was the administrator of the billiards club "Kras" ( Dutch. Kras ) [10] .

On January 5, 1949 in Amsterdam, at the 82nd year of his life, Hein's mother died, and three years later, on July 5, 1952, his father also died, he was 88 years old. However, Delsen briefly outlived his parents, on November 13, 1954, he died in Amsterdam at the age of 59 years [10] , his funeral took place on Saturday, November 18 [10] . A lot of relatives [11] and friends of Hein came to the funeral, among which was the player of Ajax Fons Pelser [10] . Representatives of the Krasi billiard club and Go Ahead football club were also present [10] .
