Evolutionary Views
Dalk saw in embryology a key to understanding evolution. To denote “sharp, deep, radical and at the same time viable transformations occurring in the cytoplasm of the egg as a morphogenetic system”, the term ontomization was proposed . According to Dalke, ontomations are caused by abrupt changes in external environmental factors, affecting simultaneously all females in the population during egg maturation. [4] This idea made it possible to overcome the difficulty that Goldschmidt's theory of macromutations faced, since it removed the question of finding a sexual partner by mutant individuals. [five]
