In Russian, the name is borrowed through Turkish ( barbunya ) from the Italian barbone - a large beard originating from the Latin barbus - a beard. The middle name of the fish, the Sultanka, is also associated with the mustache, for such a magnificent mustache could only be possessed by the ruler of the Muslims.
In the Russian Empire , the word drumula was also understood as a potato [2] .
