The first major success (1-2 place) - in the championship of Switzerland ( 1892 ). The best results in international tournaments: Hamburg ( 1905 ) - 2-3rd; Bartender (1905; “B” tournament) - 4-6th; Munich ( 1909 ; quadruple tournament) and San Remo ( 1911 ) - 1st place. Won matches against G. Salve - 3½: 1½ ( 1908 ; +3 −1 = 1) and K. von Bardeleben - 3½: ½ ( 1912 ), tied with P. Leonhart - 1½: 1½ ( 1914 ; +1 −1 = 1) and A. Seleznev - 3: 3 ( 1916 ; +2 −2 = 2).
