“Modo” ( Russian “Modo” ) is a vocal and instrumental ensemble of the Latvian State Philharmonic .

It was founded in 1972 (the name "Modo" has been used since 1975). It existed until 1982. From the moment of its foundation until 1978, the team leader was Raymond Pauls , who was replaced by Sigmar Liepins .

First line-up: Nora Bumbier and Victor Lapchenok (vocals), Raymond Pauls and Sigmar Liepins (keyboards), G. Shimkus (guitar), I. Galenieks (bass), V. Smirnov (drums).

Subsequently, the following members participated in the group: vocalists - Mirdza Zivere , Aya Kukule , Parsla Gebhard , M. Madrite, Sandra Ozolite , V. Yukhnevich , J. Siksna , V. Sysoev, I. Vanzovich . Instrumentalists - B. Bannykh [1] , V. Bakradze, V. Belinov, V. Boldyrev, V. Mitrokhin , K. Rutenthals.

The basis of the repertoire is songs and instrumental compositions written by R. Pauls and Z. Liepins. Performed and musical works of other members of the ensemble (from art rock to sentimental folk romances ). [2]

In 1982, the Latvian group "Opus" was formed on the creative basis of the "Modo" ensemble.
