Aristov, Nikolai Alexandrovich

In 1864 he graduated from the Imperial Kazan University in the category of cameral sciences of the Faculty of Law. From October 20, 1864, he was an assistant to the head clerk of the Tobolsk provincial government, then there was also a provincial secretary, an accountant in the audit department of the state chamber.

From 1868 - clerk of the Semirechensky regional government , junior official for special assignments under the military governor . From April 1869 he headed the Semirechensk prison committee. In 1871, he participated in the military campaign against the Kuldja Khanate , captured by the ruler of the Uyghur state, Yettishar Yakub-bek , heading the traveling office of the commander of the troops, G. A. Kolpakovsky . Directly participated in the assault and the capture of the city-fortress Gulja ; He was awarded the Order of St. Stanislav 2 degrees. From September 1, 1871 to February 22, 1872 he headed the Chancellery for Kuldzhin affairs, while remaining in the position of head of the department of the Semirechensk regional government.

Since June 1872 - clerk in the commission on the development of the draft Regulation on Management in the Turkestan Governor General ( Tashkent ). In the years 1873-1874. led the congresses of biys to resolve land disputes in the Semipalatinsk , Sergiopol counties and the Semirechye region. Since 1879 - an indispensable member of the regional statistical committee, then - assistant chairman. In 1881, he participated in the work of the drafting committee established at the Office of the Governor General KP von Kaufman to draw up a new Regulation on the Administration of the Turkestan Governor General.

From June 1, 1881 - assistant to the military governor of the Semirechensk regional government; from the same year he served as the military governor of the Semirechensk region. From July 1882 transferred to the Steppe Governor-General. In 1889, Mr .. resigned "due to frustrated health and domestic circumstances" with the rank of a real state adviser ; lived in Petersburg .

Historical works are devoted to Anglo-Afghan relations at the end of the 19th century, ethnographic to some peoples of Central Asia and Afghanistan. The most popular today are works on the historical geography of Semirechie, Central Asia, as well as on the tribal structure of the Kazakhs and Kyrgyz of the late XIX century, written on the basis of archival materials, documents of the Semirechensk regional government and other sources.
