Santerno ( Italian: Santerno ) is a river in northern Italy , the main tributary of Renault .

The length of the river is 103 km, the sources of the river are in the Apennines at an altitude of 1222 m above sea level in the territory of Tuscany , then the river flows along the Padan plain in the Emilia-Romagna region , flowing into Reno.
The largest city on the river is the famous Imola on the site of Via Emilia . Previously, the river was known for catastrophic floods , but in the 1880s protective measures were applied and the riverbed was slightly changed.
In ancient times, the river was also known as Vatrenus . The river is also mentioned in Dante 's Divine Comedy . [1] Not far from the riverbank, the Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit was built, on which, in particular, the Formula 1 Grand Prix of San Marino is held . [2]
