Kostas Koliyannis ( Greek Κώστας Κολιγιάννης , 1909 - September 5, 1979 , Budapest ) - First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece from 1961 to 1972. By profession - lawyer. Member of the KKE since 1931. In 1932-35, member, in 1934-35 secretary of the district committee of the KKE in Thebes. In 1935 and 1936-43 in exile, escaped. In 1943-44, at political work in the People's Liberation Army of Greece (ELAS) . In 1945-47, secretary of the district committee of the KKE of Euboea, Epirus and the eastern regions of Central Greece. A candidate member of the Central Committee of the KKE in 1945-48. Member of the Central Committee of the KKE since 1948. In 1947-49 at party work in the DAG. Candidate member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the KKE in 1950-52. Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the KKE in 1952-74.
