IATA Code

IATA codes are individual identifiers of objects that are significant for the airline industry and are assigned by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

IATA Airport Code

In the countries of the former USSR , an internal system of codes for cities and airports operates in parallel, in which codes consist of 3 letters of the Russian alphabet. [one]

IATA Airline Code

In the countries of the former USSR, an internal system of aircraft type codes operates in parallel, in which codes consist of 3 characters - letters of the Russian alphabet and numbers.

Country Code

Country code - a code of 2 letters of the Latin alphabet, which is assigned to the country . 2-letter country codes are used according to the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 list. Additionally, the XU code is used to indicate part of the territory of the Russian Federation east of the Ural Mountains (not including the territory of the mountain massif itself) and the AQ code to denote Antarctica

Currency Code

Currency code - a code of 3 letters of the Latin alphabet, which is assigned to the currency . 3-letter currency codes are used according to the ISO 4217 list

IATA Time Zone Code

IATA time zone code - a code of 2-4 characters (letters of the Latin alphabet and numbers) that is assigned to a country or part of a territory within a country where local time is calculated in a uniform way.

For all zones, the first 2 characters of the code is the code of the country in which this zone is located. The following options are possible for subsequent characters:

  • For countries that do not divide the territory into time zones , no additional characters are added. The time zone code is the same as the country code.
  • For the Russian Federation , 2 digits are added to the country code RU - the time zone number in the country, so that the codes RU01 (corresponding to the Kaliningrad region ), RU02 ( Moscow time ) and so on up to RU11 (Kamchatka) are generated.
  • For other countries that divide the territory into time zones, 1 digit is added to the country code - the time zone number in the country.
  • If in the territory of the country within the same time zone there are territories in which the transition to summer time is different, then the 4th character (letter of the Latin alphabet) can be added to ensure the uniqueness of the codes.

For example, in Australia, the states of New South Wales and Victoria , in which local time differs from Greenwich time by 10 hours, and daylight saving time occurs at the end of October, have the time zone code AU2. On Tasmania, local time differs from Greenwich time by 10 hours, but daylight saving time changes in late September or early October. Because of this, Tasmania has a time zone code of AU2A. In Queensland, local time differs from Greenwich time by 10 hours, but there is no daylight saving time at all. Because of this, the state has the time zone code AU2B.

IATA Region Code

IATA region code - a code of 3 characters (letters of the Latin alphabet and numbers), which is assigned to large territories in which several countries are located.

The following codes are used:

SCH - Schengen countries
AFR - Africa
CAR - Caribbean
CEM - Central America
EUR - Europe

TC2 - European-African Conference (includes the regions AFR, EUR, MDE)
TC3 - Asian Conference (includes JAK, SAS, SEA, SWP regions)

In the context of determining whether a territory belongs to a region, the country code RU is used to denote the European part of the territory of the Russian Federation (west of the Ural mountains and the mountains themselves), country code XU is used to denote the Asian part of the country's territory (east of the Ural mountains). In all other contexts, the country code RU is used to designate the Russian Federation.

The country code AQ is used to denote Antarctica . The territory of Antarctica does not belong to any of the above regions.
