Personal life

Alessandra Mussolini was born in Rome . The daughter of Anne-Maria Shikolone (from Pozzuoli , Naples ) and Romano Mussolini , the third son of the fascist dictator Benito Mussolini (from Forli , Emilia-Romagna ). Actress Sophia Loren - her aunt.

From 1976 to 1980 she studied at the American School of Foreign Affairs in Rome . In 1986 she graduated from the University of Rimini , receiving the title of Master of Film Management.

On October 28, 1989, Alessandra married the customs officer Mauro Floriani [1] . They have three children: Katerina, Clarissa and Romano, named after their grandfather. For about a year she fought for her three children to be allowed to bear the name of Mussolini [2] . She repeatedly stated that she was proud of her famous relative, but in this case she defended not so much the honor of her grandfather, as her rights as women. Alessandra managed to achieve his goal, but the process was long, tedious and quite expensive.

Few can afford to protect their rights in this way.

She worked as a model [3] , collaborated with Playboy magazine and appeared on the covers of the Italian (August 1983 ) and German (November 1983 ) issues [4] [5] . In December 2003, she founded her own party, Social Action , which formally existed until March 2009 , but really only until 2006 , as part of the Social Alternative coalition.

In November 2007, Mussolini’s statement that all Romanians were criminals made a lot of noise. It led to the collapse in the European Parliament of the nationalist coalition " Identity, tradition, sovereignty ", of which Mussolini was a member [7] .

Since 2008, it has been affiliated with the alliance of right-wing parties Silvio Berlusconi ; in 2014–2019, she was a member of the European Parliament as an active supporter of the European People’s Party . However, Alessandra Mussolini lost her re-election in May 2019 and left big politics.
