Career
Fernando De Napoli is a graduate of the Avellino club, but in his "big" football he made his debut in the club of the C series " Rimini ", where he was leased in 1982 . In December 1983, De Napoli returned to Avellino and in February of the following year he made his debut in the first club team in a match with Ascoli . In “Avellino” Di Napoli spent 3 seasons, the club at that time “hung out” in the middle of the Serie A table, not pretending to be European cups, but also not under threat of relegation. In those same years, De Napoli made his debut in the youth team of Italy and even became one of the leaders of this team, and in 1986 he was even called up to the first team of Italy, in which he made his debut on May 11, 1986 against China , and a month later he, as part of the national team went to the World Cup , becoming the first Avellino player to receive such an honor. De Napoli played 4 matches at the Mundiale, right up to 1/8 finals, where Italy lost 0-2 to France . After the World Cup for De Napoli, a real “hunt” began among the leading Italian clubs, including Juventus , Milan and Napoli , to which De Napoli preferred the rest of the teams because he had been rooting for the Neapolitan club since childhood, and because Napoli was already played by the great Diego Maradona , the best footballer in the world.
“I could go to Milan or Juve, but I chose Naples because I could play with Maradona, stay close to my house and put on the T-shirt I had dreamed about since childhood”
In the first season with Napoli, De Napoli won his first title - the Italian Championship , and in 1990 repeated this success, he also won the Italian Cup and Super Cup , as well as the UEFA Cup with the team. De Napoli, together with Maradona, Bagni and Kareka became a symbol of Napoli's victories in the late 1980s. In those same years, De Napoli remained the main player in the Italian national team, playing with her at two Euro 1988 tournaments, in which Italy lost the USSR national team in the semifinals and the 1990 World Cup , where Italy, again in the semifinals, stopped, this time Argentina . In 1992, De Napoli suddenly moved to Milan , which offered the player a salary of $ 1.8 million per season, which simply infuriated Neapolitan tiffozi, who accused the player of “corruption”. As part of Milan, De Napoli made his debut on October 28, 1992 in a match against Cagliari , which ended with the score 0-0 and spent 2 seasons for the club, but he didn’t show a game comparable to playing for Napoli or even win a place Di Napoli failed at the heart of the Rossoneri, having only 17 matches at all levels, although he won two championships and two Italian Super Cups in the domestic arena, as well as the UEFA Champions League and Super Cup in the European one. The last match for Milan, De Napoli held May 1, 1994 against the club Regina (defeat of Milan 0: 1), which he joined at the end of the season and played for the team until the end of his career. In 1997, De Napoli decided to "hang the boots on a nail", he became the general manager of "Reggiana" and remained in this position until 2005 .
