Ortles [2] [3] ( ital. Ortles , it. Ortler ) is a mountain in the mountain range of the same name in Italy .

Mount Ortles - the highest (3905 m) point of the Italian region of Trentino-Alto Adige , as well as, if we exclude the ridge of Bernina , all of the Eastern Alps .
Historically, the mountain was part of the Tyrolean county , later - Austria-Hungary . Since 1919, the mountain is located in Italy, although the majority of the population in the nearest settlements is German-speaking .
The first recorded ascent was registered on September 27, 1804, since then the mountain has been popular among climbers , and lovers of extreme descent have chosen its slopes.
