General Information
Bethany is one of four children of Tim and Heidi Mattekov; her brothers are called Chad and Andrew, and her sister is Alison.
On November 29, 2009, an American married Justin Sands, adjusting her last name.
Bethany began playing tennis at the age of five, her favorite cover is hard.
Sports career

Bethany began her professional career in 1999. The first WTA tour tournament where she played in the main draw becomes Amelia Island in April 2001. In the first match at this level, Mattek lost to compatriot Jill Kreibas 6-4, 1-6, 3-6. In May 2012, with the help of Sani Mirza at a tournament in Brussels, she was able to win the 10th WTA doubles title in her professional career. At the Wimbledon tournament, Mattek Sands defeated Alison van Eytvank and Anu Ivanovich, and lost to Belinda Bencic in the third round.
