Production in Moscow (2008—2010)

The premiere of the Russian production, translated by Alexei Kortnev , took place on October 11, 2008 at the Moscow Youth Palace . The duration of the performance was 2 hours 30 minutes.

The musical was staged by Stage Entertainment . The choice of the leading role for the Beast-Prince was made using the open national casting “Find Your Prince!”. The casting finals were held in France in the castle of the Chateau de Raray , where in 1946, Jean Cocteau directed his film Beauty and the Beast with Jean Marais in the title role. The jury included the leading Stage Entertainment directors from Russia and Europe. As a result, the winner was Igor Ivanov from Brest , chosen from more than 500 applicants. [3]

Unlike Broadway, two stars were chosen for the main character at once: Natalia Bystrova , star of musicals staged by Stage Entertainment, and Ekaterina Guseva , star of Russian musicals (for example, Nord-Ost ), as well as a famous theater and film actress. Thus, the role of Belle was played by two actresses of the first plan (in this case, we were not talking about the first and second composition).

March 3, 2009 the role of the Prince was played by F. Kirkorov [4]

In May 2009, the musical closed the first season. For the first rental season, the musical Beauty and the Beast was attended by over 400,000 spectators, becoming the most successful Broadway production in Russia.

In anticipation of the opening of the second theater season, it was decided to transfer the success of the musical to a fundamentally new project for Russia - the television casting show "Find the Beast!", Which was broadcast from September 26 to November 21, 2009, on Saturdays, at 16:30 on the channel " TV Center ". The project was led by Sergei Mayorov and Ekaterina Guseva . The winner of the project was theater and film actor Viktor Dobronravov .

Over the two years of rental, the musical was watched by more than 600,000 viewers, including dozens of domestic stars of show business, famous figures of culture, sports and politics. By the end of April 2010, the total number of performances in which 35 artists were involved was about 500 [5] .

On October 18, 2014, the Stage Entertainment theater company, together with Disney, presented the musical Beauty and the Beast to the Moscow public at the Rossiya Theater on Pushkinskaya Square. This year was a jubilee for the production - exactly 20 years ago the world premiere of the musical on Broadway took place. [6] The main role of the Beast was played by Pavel Lyovkin - artist of the Moscow Art Theater. A.P. Chekhov, student of Igor Zolotovitsky. Belle performed by MAMMA MIA star and The Little Mermaid Anastasia Yatsenko. The image of the hunter and strongman Gaston was embodied by Evgeny Shirikov, who had time to take part in other productions of Stage Entertainment - Sounds of Music and The Little Mermaid. “Chandelier” - a refined and funny Lumiere - became the title voice of the movie musical “Hipsters”, an actor of theater and cinema, a member of the musicals MAMMA MIA! and ZORRO Andrey Birin.
