Aage Oxenwad ( dated. Aage Oxenvad ; January 16, 1884 , the village of Gettrup, Jutland - April 13, 1944 ) is a Danish clarinetist .

Born into the family of a farmer who was also an amateur musician. As a child, he studied flute , and participated in village holidays with his father. From the age of twelve he began to master the clarinet, occasionally visiting Copenhagen , where he took lessons from the soloist of the Royal Chapel, Karl Skjerné (student of Richard Mülfeld ). In 1903-1905, Oxenwad studied at the Royal Conservatory, then improved for some time in Paris . From 1909 until his death, he worked in the Royal Chapel , where he became the first clarinetist to use the Böhm clarinet system (Skierné played the Eler instrument).
Oxenwad played in the Danish Wind Quintet, for which Carl Nielsen wrote his Wind Quintet, op. 43. He is also dedicated and for the first time he performed the Nielsen concerto for clarinet and orchestra , op. 57 (1928).
