Biography

Born in the village of Molom now Oparinsky district of the Kirov region in a peasant family. By nationality Estonian .

He grew up and studied at a school in the Estonian village of Novoestonka in the Krasnodar Territory .

He graduated 2 courses of chemical engineering college in Armavir .

In the Red Army since 1941 .

On the front in the Great Patriotic War since July 1942 . He graduated from the Podolsk Military Infantry School in 1943 . He was a platoon commander of the 925th Infantry Regiment (249th Infantry Division, 8th Army, Leningrad Front ). He distinguished himself in the battle on Muhu Island ( Estonian SSR ): on September 29, 1944, his platoon as part of a battalion on torpedo boats crossed the Suur-Väin Strait and joined the battle for the bridgehead. He was wounded twice, but remained in the ranks.

The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded on March 24, 1945 .

Member of the CPSU since 1945 .

Since 1946, in the rank of major - in stock. He lived in Tallinn. He graduated in absentia in 1960 from the Moscow Institute of Civil Engineering, worked as a director of a cement plant.

He died in August 1995 . He was buried on August 26, 1995 at the Tallinn cemetery of Metsakalmist .
