History
Ancient Russia and Novgorod Land
It is mentioned in the scribe books of the Shelonsky Pyatina of 1501, as the village of Gorodets on a lake in the Dremyatsky graveyard of the Novgorod district [2] .
In the 16th century, the monastery in Gorodets was “plundered from Lithuanian and German people” [3] .
Russian Empire
CITY - the village belongs to the Oranienbaum Palace Office, the number of inhabitants under the audit: 107 metro stations, 101 railways. P.

The compilation of the Central Statistical Committee described it like this:
GORODETS - a former specific village at Lake Gorodetsky and the Serebryanka River, 40 yards, 193 residents; Volost government, 2 Orthodox churches, school, 4 shops. (1885) [8]
According to the statistics on the national economy of the Luga district of 1891, the estate in the village of Gorodets with an area of 1036 acres belonged to the nobles Glinka-Mavrins , the estate was acquired until 1868 [9] .
In the XIX century, the village administratively belonged to the Gorodets volost of the 2nd camp of the Luga district of the St. Petersburg province , at the beginning of the XX century - the 4th camp [10] .
Soviet time
From 1917 to 1924, the village was part of the Gorodets village council of the Gorodets volost of the Luga district.
From 1924 to 1928 - to the Novoselsky Village Council, then again to the Gorodetsky Village Council [11] .
According to the topographic map of 1926, the village was called Gorodets (Kukuevka) and consisted of 40 yards .
According to 1933, the village of Gorodets was the administrative center of the Gorodets village council of the Luga region, which included 13 settlements: the villages of Aleksandrovka, Volnaya Seryodka, Domkino, Zheglino, Zaozerye, Kukuevka, Lyublino, Novoselye, Empty Brod, the villages of Gorodets , Ivanovo, Kostkino farm the population of 3120 people [12] .
According to 1936, the Gorodets Village Council included 13 settlements, 548 households, and 9 collective farms [13] .
From August 1, 1941 to January 31, 1944, the village was under occupation.
In 1961, its population was 155 people [11] .
According to 1966, the village of Gorodets was also part of the Gorodets village council [14] .
According to 1990, the village of Gorodets was part of the Volodarsky village council of the Luga region [15] .
Russian Federation
In 1997, 77 people lived in the village of Gorodets of the Volodarsky volost, in 2002 - 89 people (Russians - 98%) [16] [17] .
In 2007, in the village of Gorodets of the Volodarsky joint venture - 92 [18] .
Geography
The village is located in the southern part of the district on the P23 Pskov highway ( E 95 , St. Petersburg - the border with Belarus ), at the junction of the 41K-254 highway (Gorodets - Konezerye ).
The distance to the administrative center of the settlement is 7 km [18] .
The distance to the nearest railway station Luga is 20 km [14] .
On the western outskirts of the village is located Gorodetsky lake .
The Rybinka River [19] flows through the village (according to other sources, the Gorodetsky stream [20] ), which flows into Lake Vrevo .
